Nigeria Poultry Show 2024: Forging a Path to Sustainable Growth and Innovation in the Poultry Sector
The Nigeria Poultry Show (NPS) 2024, held from November 5th to 7th at the Green Legacy Resort within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Complex, concluded with powerful insights into the future of Nigeria's poultry industry. This year’s event brought together a diverse group of industry professionals, investors, and government representatives, all committed to addressing the sector's pressing challenges and identifying pathways for sustainable development and growth.
Since its inception in 2000, the NPS has grown remarkably, reflecting the broader expansion and ambition within Nigeria’s poultry sector. What began with 18 exhibitors and 250 participants has now evolved into a premier industry event, attracting over 4,780 attendees and 45+ exhibitors, including international participants from countries like Germany, Italy, India, the USA, and China. This growth mirrors Nigeria's drive toward international competitiveness in poultry production, bolstered by government support and increased investment.
Driving Sustainable Practices and Overcoming Challenges
This year’s Poultry Show focused heavily on sustainability, emphasizing the need for practices that promote both economic and environmental resilience. High feed costs, regulatory challenges, and market instability were central topics in discussions led by industry leaders and veterans within the sector. Panel sessions and presentations addressed these challenges, with stakeholders offering insights on policy and practical approaches to advancing poultry production in Nigeria.
A variety of topics were explored, including syndicate presentations on Production Optimization Strategies in Broiler Farming, and Layers Management: Maximizing Profit in Layer Business Amidst the Challenges in the Industry. These sessions were presented by Dr. Rotimi Akinlolu and Dr. James Babawageti respectively, and they provided attendees with valuable knowledge and tools to navigate the industry’s challenges and seize emerging opportunities.
Showcasing Innovation and Industry Collaboration
NPS 2024 showcased the latest innovations in the poultry sector through interactive exhibits from both local and international exhibitors. Major sponsors like ADM, New Hope Agric Tech, Innovad, USSEC/US Soy, Provider Farms Equipment Solutions, and Chi Farms introduced cutting-edge tools, technology, and products designed to improve efficiency across the poultry value chain. These sponsors, along with other exhibitors, highlighted solutions aimed at optimizing various stages of poultry production—from feed management to biosecurity practices.
Feedback from previous attendees shows that NPS is a catalyst for knowledge-sharing and business growth, with many farmers and industry participants praising the event’s educational value and networking opportunities. This year was no different, as participants gained firsthand access to solutions that address core challenges facing the industry.
